I want to make sure to write the year on the title of this post because I know in my heart that we will be back. The cabin, the trip, the hikes, sharing this time with friends, watching the kids playing together, and everything else surpassed my expectations.
There are so many moments I want to remember, so many conversations, so many stories, and so many laughs (Silmara and Dani reading the various Christmas cards left at the cabin, for example). There were many tender moments among the kids -- Phillip and Maya really enjoyed following Jonathan around and "taking care" of him. The abundance of pictures of them together is not a coincidence.
Thank you friends for being part of our lives. As you all know well, our children do not have any young cousins. Sharing time with other kids is what they love to do. Watching their friendship (and ours) grow in these last few days makes my heart overflow with gratitude. Thank you!
This makes me hungry all over again! Danielle's enchiladas!!! We combined it with "taco night" for the kids.
Ice Cave Trail -- cool mist at the end of the trail. The cave is closed by rocks.
The grill man
Cody - Maya's sweet horse
Max - Phillip's stubborn horse - Phillip had to stir him back when he decided to take a long time drinking in the river.
Snowball had a mind of her own. Stopped to eat numerous times and knew well I did not have any control over her. The wrangler kept telling me "kick hard, you won't hurt her" in his cute cowboy accent.
Sorry I cut Titanic's head from the picture. A big and very obedient horse.
Danielle's horse kicked Harlan's horse because Harlan's horse was getting a little too close for comfort. I am glad I wasn't the one right behind her horse at that moment -- my horse was stuck eating.
"Mom, can I hug the cow?"
Springs Trail - # 633 - their favorite spot to play with crawdads
